So you've got a planning problem?

. Download our Residents Guide to Objecting.
For basic inquiries we provide the above online guide to help people with council and VCAT objections. It contains advice about grounds of objection to planning applications, how to deal with councils, making an appeal to VCAT, etc. We can also refer you to a planning professional or local community group for help. However, we don't have the resources to provide free detailed advice (such as a full analysis of plans or planning policies related to an individual development application). This is particularly the case given the number of problems that "planning" in Victoria is experiencing (see the Auditor General's May 2008 report into Planning in Victoria, especially part 6: 78% of planning permit decisions are flawed! ). If you are involved with a local community group and your group needs assistance about planning policies or a development application, please contact us. And Join SOS so that you can contribute information about important cases and local municipal planning issues (both positive and negative) to assist the committee's lobbying efforts! Our aim is to improve planning legislation and the way it is implemented so that the community doesn't have to keep fighting so many individual battles - battles that should not be necessary in a real democracy where the government listens to the community.
